HCA visit.

HCA visit was indeed a wonderful experience for me. I visited a old folks home for the first time and they were all so friendly! Really sad to know that they still have 2 months or more (less than 1 year) to live.
Initially, I look forward for the trip only as a MC and host. But I'm really happy to visit them because they were all so happy to see us. My classmates (the gentlemen) didn't really look forward for the trip and kept on moaning about having to waste 2 hours of their time hanging out there when they can actually play basketballs in the court BUT they treated the elderly with utmost care and passion. They participated the games actively and they are willing to communicate with the elderly despite that some elderly doesn't understand English and maybe even Chinese. You want names huh? Gibson, JinGuo, Shiwei, Weijian. Aiya, all of the guys la.
Having a helpful partner, Tingwei with me hosting, my job is much more easier. I have never host before or speak with the microphone in the middle of the room with everyone looking at me before. So, I can say I have already tried my best.
As for the games, we played musical chair with oldie's songs and everyone participated actively. There is 4 forfeit and prize to draw and when 3 of the prize have been drawn with only 1 prize and 2 forfeit to be drawn, I swopped the draw, and put all the prize draw into the plastic bag. So they are destine to draw the 1 last prize. I so good right?
The next game is the hunting game. It was damn fun! The top 5 winners get to go away with a packet of twisters. Xen, Gibson, Yanghorng, Shakeer & Jinguo's buddy manage to walk away with it. With 15 more minutes left, we have the ice-cream stick thing where they are to take one of the colorful ice-cream sticks and the alphabet macoroni and paste it on the sticks with their name on it. I helped a elderly named Phua Kim Gak. But I didn't manage to find a P or H or U or A, so I just chose Kim Gak to paste onto the sticks. After that, with sliver ribbons on, they can keep it as a souvenir.
The person-in-charge is so good lor, she stick my card to the notice board to show everyone. Heh, so proud.
I love this trip and wish to come again which will be near end of year. But I think when we come again, we will see some missing faces. They have gone to a better place. :)
Bought the santa claus beads made by the elderly. They really have good handicraft skills.
Definitely will come again. :)
Bye
